The Lawyer’s Daily: Backlash on Ramped Up Immigration Numbers Unwarranted

Founder of Jain Immigration Law, Mr. Jain, made a recent contribution to The Lawyer’s Daily. In the article titled ” Backlash on Ramped Up Immigration Numbers Unwarranted,” Mr. Jain addresses some of the challenges, controversies and benefits surrounding the state of the Canadian Immigration system.  

Mr. Jain begins his opening remarks by discussing the annual level plan for the Immigration system as well as some of the criticism surrounding it. As he explains, the latest immigration numbers have sparked debate, particularly over how targets are being established and the impact they will have on the country. 

He continues by sharing relevant facts about the current Canadian landscape and its relationship with the immigrant population. He presents several examples, including the low unemployment rate, the healthcare system shortfall, and the low bird rates, all of which are already happening without immigration as the leading cause.   

Furthermore, Mr. Jain emphasizes that immigration should not merely be criticized, and solutions should be addressed. As he shares, by removing significant barriers for migrants, Canada could help prevent future healthcare and housing crises, among others. For example, recognising foreign-trained professionals could serve as an incentive for innovation in critical sectors such as healthcare, and providing a pathway for skilled workers could help alleviate labour shortages in numerous fields. 

Mr. Jain concludes by highlighting the additional benefits of immigration and why he was drawn to the field more than 20 years ago. As he says in his final thoughts, “immigration can give us a sense of inclusiveness and appreciation, and help us reduce nativism, xenophobia, and racism, making Canada and the rest of the world a better place to live.”
